Living World adds numerous world state triggers and town overrides to make the Kenshi world feel more dynamic. Towns change faction ownership based on the status of key NPCs, and player alliances can influence which faction takes control. The mod also includes various minor fixes and improvements.

  • Deadcat Revival: Help Deadcat recover lost settlements. Killing the Cannibal Grand Wizard returns their old capital and Ghost Village; killing Meatlord returns First Village. Deadcat villages in the Dreg and Outlands now feature traders and gate guards.
  • Cannibal Hunters Expanded: Turn in bountied cannibals at The Bastion.
  • Anti-Slavers Expanded: Anti-Slavers take over locations from the United Cities and Slavers if Slave Masters are eliminated. Players can build and help rebuild these liberated areas.
  • Tech Hunters: Start as a Tech Hunter at a Waystation or join via recruiters. They assist in defending player outposts against bandit raids.
  • Reavers: Start as a Reaver recruit to help expand their territory. Trade with quartermasters in Ark and Reaver Camps. Reavers aid in base defense.
  • Shek Kingdom and Holy Nation: Assist either faction in their war to capture towns, including the Hub and Holy Farms. New unique characters act as world state triggers, allowing players to wage war and capture settlements sequentially. The Holy Nation can also expand into the Desert, taking settlements from the United Cities.
  • Rebel Farmers Expanded: If allied, Rebel Farmers take over locations from Slavers and United Cities upon the death of Nobles and Slave Masters. Players can help rebuild. Empire Peasants may take over many towns if the war against Tengu is won.
  • United Cities, Trader's Guild, and Slave Traders: Help these factions expand territory by defeating enemies. Killing Tinfist strengthens Slavers and the United Cities.
  • Kral's Chosen: Start as a Shek allied with Kral's Chosen to challenge the Shek Kingdom and Holy Nation. They provide base defense support.
  • Swamp Gangs: Join Blackshifters, Stone Rats, Grayflayers, or Twinblades by speaking to gang bosses.
  • Swampers Expanded: Swampers become more active in the Swamp after local bandit factions are defeated, including travel between villages.
  • Dust Bandits: Team up with Dust Bandits by speaking to the Dust King at his tower.
  • Southern Hive: Fogmen take over Southern Hive villages and capital if the Queen is killed. If the Western Hive Queen is alive, they reclaim the Southern Hive after Fogmen are eliminated.
  • Black Dog: Base geometry is fixed, removing rock blockages at HQ. Gate guards are added, and immunity to instant kills from Reaver patrols is implemented.
  • Minor Factions: Join factions like Mongrel or United Heroes League if requirements are met by speaking to faction leaders.
  • Yabuta Outlaws Fixed: Yabuta appears at Fort Simion if released and not allied with Rebel Farmers. If allied and Sand Ninja Oni is dead, he appears at Cactus Den.
  • World State Triggers: Numerous locations change ownership based on NPC survival and player alliances.
  • Helpful Towners: Villagers assist in defending against wild animals and carrying knocked-out guards and residents to beds, improving town survival rates.
  • Mourn Expanded: Increased Tech Hunter presence in Mourn to prevent easy wipeouts by Skin Spiders and Beak Things.
  • Improved Bounty Hunting: More bounties are available, and Bounty Hunters actively pursue them.
  • Shopping Visits: Neutral towns nearby may send visitors to buy goods at player outposts.
  • NPC Enhancements: Many NPCs carry basic first aid kits for post-combat healing. NPCs with shopping AI possess funds for basic purchases.
  • Fixes: Corrections applied to various writing and scripting errors.

The mod is designed to be lore-friendly, preserving the atmosphere and gameplay balance without adding new factions or towns. It is compatible with various «Expanded» mods. When used with Reactive World, minor issues may occur in the northern map regions involving Cannibals, Deadcat, Holy Nation, and Rebel Farmers. Adjusting mod load order may resolve conflicts regarding Deadcat settlement takeovers. Note that Reactive World changes cannibal shacks to stone mines, which may affect the visual appearance of Deadcat settlements.
