Mod «Tainted Eden Rework Soul Infusion» for The Binding of Isaac
Make Tainted Eden Fun, Not Frustrating
Tainted Eden is capped at 3 Red Heart Containers. Any HP gained beyond this limit becomes Soul Hearts. Red Hearts act as armor and take damage first. Only Soul Heart damage lowers Devil or Angel deal chance. If the game forces a pure Soul build due to rerolls, damage does not reduce deal chance. Hearts are automatically sorted for clearer damage behavior. Run-breaking items are blocked from rerolls and starting pools.
Soul Heart Conversion
- Tainted Eden is limited to 3 Red Heart Containers. Extra HP becomes Soul Hearts.
- The system is capacity-based and dynamic. HP ups convert in either direction to maintain valid heart slots.
- This prevents overflow and ensures rerolls cannot create impossible health states.
Glitched Armor
- Flesh Before Soul: If you have Red or Rotten health, damage hits those first.
- The Tax: Red and Rotten health absorbs hits to protect other hearts.
- True Health: Only Soul Heart damage affects deal chance. Red, Black, and Bone hearts act as armor.
- IOU: If rerolls shrink your Red Containers, excess red health is stored and returned when you gain empty containers later.
- Note: Glitched Armor is not a permanent shield. It can disappear if you reroll into 0 HP Ups but may return with future HP Ups.
Dynamic Devil and Angel Deals
- Armor Protection: If armor absorbs damage, deal chance remains intact.
- Armor Neglect: If all Red Containers are empty and you take Soul damage, you lose deal chance.
- RNG Forgiveness: In forced pure Soul builds, Soul damage does not punish deal chance.
- The Void Curse: Willingly giving up all Red Containers via Devil Deals is not treated as a Pure Soul build. You can lose deal chance until you gain another HP Up.
Health Sorting System Enforces a consistent heart order for damage handling: Soul > Black > Bone. This keeps damage behavior predictable.
Run Protection System The following items are banned from D6 rerolls, internal rerolls, and starting pools:
- Game Breakers: TMTRAINER, Shard of Glass, Missing No.
- Consumable Conflicts: Little Baggy, Starter Deck.
- A small «Poof» effect appears when the mod blocks these items.
Compatibility
- Works with Repentance and Repentance Plus.
- Compatible with most other mods as it only affects Tainted Eden.
Known Issues
- Capitalist Alchemy (Greed's Gullet + Deep Pockets): If you exceed 99 coins, you receive a Soul Heart, but coins decrease by approximately 24. This is a known quirk and will not be fixed.
Required DLC: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth, The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, The Binding of Isaac: Repentance
