Mod «Artifacts and Ruins Enhanced» for Barotrauma
With Artifacts & Ruins Enhanced, artifacts become researchable and no longer immediately reveal their identity upon discovery. To identify an artifact, you must either observe its effects or research it at a research station. Researching artifacts can unlock new and interesting technologies.
Ruins have been reworked to include more challenges, modules, and loot. They are no longer destructible and always contain at least one artifact. Additional loot such as unidentified serums and alien circuitry can be found, making expeditions more rewarding but also more dangerous. Adjustments were made to prevent certain doors from shutting during combat with monsters, hindering escape, along with other minor tweaks.
Gameplay Features:

- Can be researched at a research station using alien circuitry to reveal their identity.
- Researching already known artifacts generates an unknown serum inside the artifact.
- Can be sold both unidentified and identified; identified artifacts are worth significantly more.
- Military and research merchants pay higher prices for these items.

- Effects are not revealed until researched at a research station using stabilozine.
- They either unlock new technology or impose negative genetic effects.
- Can only be sold when identified.
- Military and research merchants pay higher prices for these items.
- New Technologies
- Unlock recipes for new items by injecting a serum and crafting them at the new research workbench, which can be crafted at a regular fabricator.
- Currently unlockable technologies include:
- Artifact Containment
- Gene Cleansing
- Living Metal
- Stasis
- Teleportation
Compatibility: This mod is semi-compatible with other artifact mods. Artifacts from other mods will spawn and function as intended, but this mod's gameplay mechanics (such as researching) do not apply to them. They will retain their original appearance and visible names.
