Mod «Soundproof Walls 2.0» for Barotrauma
Soundproof Walls 2.0 overhauls Barotrauma’s audio system to make sound more immersive and mechanically meaningful.
Features
— Dynamic Muffling: Sounds are low-pass filtered based on obstructions; distant events may go unnoticed.
— Simulated Reverb: Echoes respond to room size and amplitude; underwater sounds scatter realistically.
— Powerful Distortion: Gunshots and explosions crack in air and rumble underwater.
— Sidechain Compression: Loud sounds temporarily suppress quieter ones for greater dynamic contrast.
— Sound Occlusion: Environmental geometry reduces sound clarity when blocked.
— Realistic Distance Falloff: Volume depends on the actual path sound travels through the sub.
— Immersive Proximity Chat: Voice range scales with volume; drowning cries distort, radios degrade clarity (some features disabled by default).
— New Mechanic: Eavesdropping – press against doors to hear inside rooms, detect threats or flooding.
— New Mechanic: Hydrophone Monitoring – use passive sonar mics to scan surroundings silently and identify creatures.
Requirements
1. Client-side Lua For Barotrauma must be installed separately from Steam Workshop.
2. Enable “Csharp Scripting” in the LuaCs settings menu. Servers must also run Lua with C# enabled for full functionality.
Usage
Verify mod load via console (F3): look for “Finished loading Soundproof Walls v2.x”. Access settings via Escape menu or “spw” command. Host settings sync automatically in multiplayer. Custom sounds can be added for modded content and shared as standalone patches.
