Mod «SUGER's Shorthair Overhaul» for Barotrauma

This mod is a complete overhaul of the SUGER's Shorthair submarine, tuned for solo or low-player group gameplay. It features extensive quality-of-life automation functions and upgradeable hardpoints, while remaining fully compatible with bot usage. The original three submarines have been consolidated into a single Tier 1 vessel, designed to make all ship upgrades feel meaningful throughout the campaign.

The submarine is balanced to support both vanilla firepower levels and expanded firepower for high-difficulty mod playthroughs. Three versions are available:

  • Vanilla parts only.
  • Custom: Features custom modded parts such as a mining beam turret, expanded cabinets, and a functional trash can. All modded parts use vanilla sprites to conserve file space.
  • Custom with TSM fabricators: Pre-built for The Silence Mod (TSM). Use this version if playing TSM; otherwise, use the standard Custom version.

Starting Weaponry: All weapons include an automation switch.

  • 2x custom beam lasers (or 2x energy coils in the vanilla version).
  • 1x pulse laser when the drone is docked; 1x custom beam laser when the drone is undocked.
  • 3x small hardpoints (the rear small hardpoint is auto-only).
  • 2x large hardpoints.
  • 1x depth charge tube.

Engineering and Systems:

  • Full fabrication facilities with custom expanded storage (in custom versions).
  • Reactor controller with battery buffer and fuel rod counter.
  • Automatic ballast flora detector with detonator and lever to pump out ballast.
  • Automatic fixfoam dispenser with rechargeable fixfoam (in custom versions).
  • All critical systems (weaponry, lights, stealth, reactor) can be controlled from the cockpit.
  • Docking port plus moonpool exits on top and bottom hatches.
  • No equipment deterioration over time; systems are designed to overvolt when using special features like stealth mode.

Expanded Details:

  • Beam Weaponry: Custom versions feature turrets built with vanilla sprites that can detach ores or plants. They deal damage comparable to a chaingun but are more power-hungry and ammo-free. These turrets are non-swappable and located on the drone and two starting positions.
  • Drone/Shuttle «Nancy»: Fully retrofitted with oxygen and battery recharging, an artifact holder, and storage. You can hold the periscope while it moves. Weaponry swaps between a mobile beam turret (undocked) and a pulse turret (docked). Includes short-range discharge coils that do not damage occupants.
  • Modular Stealth Mode: From the cockpit, you can disable the reactor, lights, and O2 generator, and throttle the engine to silent running. The system is fully modular, allowing selective activation of systems.
  • Ballast Flora Auto-Detector: An alarm system built with vanilla parts. Users can choose to detonate an incendium grenade or manually pump out ballast to eliminate flora.
  • Auto Fixfoam and Doors: Automatic doors close during water ingress, fire, or monster presence. Fixfoam dispensers activate when a room is completely flooded.
  • Cockpit Displays: Dynamic displays show ship status, including average fuel rod power percentage and the number of available fuel rods.
