Mod «Bath Towels Overhaul» for Project Zomboid

Bath Towels Overhaul mod for Project Zomboid changes how bath towels and the “Dry Self” action work. You no longer need to carry multiple towels like in vanilla. “Dry Self” now uses a custom animation and more realistic values.

Bath Towel

• Towels are now “Clothing” items, not “Drainable” (but not wearable).
• Generated with random colors.
• Tagged as “Wipeable”.
• Feature a “water absorbency” parameter that affects “Dry Self” efficiency.
• Can be ripped, washed, wrung out, and dried in a dryer.
• Absorbency info appears in the tooltip (requires Starlit Library mod).
• Using a towel to clean floor or wall stains will stain the towel (favorited towels are excluded).

Towel Items List
Bath Towel – absorbency 50–65 – replaces the base game version.
Luxury Bath Towel – absorbency 80–100 – rare and high quality.
Rough Bath Towel – absorbency 25–40 – basic but functional.
Crafted Bath Towel – absorbency 20–50 – depends on tailoring skill.
Hand Towel – absorbency 30 – small, lightweight, good for sweat.
Dish Towel – no absorbency – cleaning tool, rips into rags.
Dust Cloth – no absorbency – cleaning tool, rips into rags.

Bath Towels and Dust Cloths can be crafted with sewing skill level 1 or higher using yarn, sheets, or ripped clothes along with sewing or knitting tools.

Dry Self

• Uses the <BTO_WipeMySelf> function with a unique TimedAction animation.
• Drying with a dirty towel transfers dirt or blood to your character, causing unhappiness.
• Drying with a clean, dry towel slightly reduces unhappiness.
• Can be performed while walking.
• Towel info appears in the context menu (optional).
• Double-click a towel in inventory to dry yourself.

Wetness

• Player wetness decrease rate reduced from 0.002 to 0.001, slightly weakening natural drying (toggleable in sandbox options). This does not affect what makes the player wet or dry.

Known Issues

• Towel animation angle may look odd.
• Animation appears unnatural while sneaking.

Note

• Installing or removing this mod in an existing save deletes all bath towels and dish cloths in the world.
• Incompatible with mods that override Base.BathTowels or Base.DishCloth.
