Mod «[PZCh] Realism» for Project Zomboid

Realism is a large-scale Build 42 overhaul for Project Zomboid that reconnects combat, stamina, training, nutrition, body composition, thermoregulation, carry weight, and zombie behavior into one unified survival simulation.

Your body changes. Your heart rate matters. Your meals matter. Your recovery matters. A lean survivor moves, turns, fights, and recovers differently from a heavy one. A bad sprint at the wrong time can push you into tachycardia. A good training day only becomes progress if you recover properly.

What Realism adds:

  • Heart-rate driven endurance — exertion, fatigue, sprinting, recovery, and collapse risk are tied together through a live body-monitor system.
  • Sleep-based Strength & Fitness progression — train during the day, recover at night, and convert effort into meaningful gains when you sleep.
  • Body composition & visual body shape — dynamic weight/body-fat tiers, random starting body composition, trait syncing, and matching body visuals.
  • Thermoregulation & sweat — heat and sweat are part of survival pressure, including sweat-in-eyes blur when you push too far.
  • Nutrition with consequences — body composition, hunger pressure, and meal cadence all influence how well your survivor develops.
  • Combat overhaul — directional combat bonuses, realistic endurance behavior, emergency sprint bursts, grab escape, backpack rear protection, auto weapon swap, and more.
  • Physical archetypes — lean characters pivot faster, larger characters hit different, and heavier builds can unlock brutal momentum-based advantages.
  • Zombie behavior changes — trample interactions, crowd-density slowdown, door-break slip hazards, bruise/bleed effects, and knockdown fall damage.
  • Special combat techniques — traits like Blade Artist and Executioner reward positioning, timing, and weapon choice with vicious finishers.
  • Optional breath-hold system — manage your breathing around airborne fumes when survival gets messy.

Requirements / installation

  • Requires: TombBody
  • Important: Realism includes class-based features. For the full feature set, copy the included zombie folder into your Project Zomboid game directory (the same folder as ProjectZomboid64.exe), then restart the game.
  • Placing the files only inside the mod folder is not enough for those class overrides to load.

Compatibility

  • Incompatible with RealismV3
  • Incompatible with ZBBetterFPS
  • If another mod changes carry capacity, combat behavior, performance overrides, or body systems, disable overlapping RSF modules in Sandbox as needed
