PETA — Pipebomb-Enabled Throwable Animals for Project Zomboid.

Turn Knox County's wildlife into a walking arsenal. Strap pipe bombs to cows. Rig proximity mines on chickens. Send a deer charging into a zombie horde. PETA adds a complete animal-bomb system to Project Zomboid B42. Attach explosives to any animal, choose how they detonate, and use them as tactical weapons against the undead.

What You Can Do

  • Attach Explosives — Right-click any animal → «Add Bomb» → pick your explosive.
  • Remote Detonation — Right-click any armed animal and blow it up on command.
  • Leeroy Jenkins Mode — Send the animal charging into zombies. Contact = detonation.
  • Sensor Proximity Traps — Aerosol and smoke bombs detect nearby zombies and trigger automatically.
  • Player Commentary — 35 unique lines across 3 categories.

Bomb Types

  • Pipe Bomb — Proximity / Remote. Classic explosion. 10-second timer.
  • Molotov — Proximity / Remote. Incendiary blast. (Fire effects coming soon.)
  • Aerosol Bomb — Proximity / Remote. Chemical blast on proximity trigger.
  • Smoke Bomb — Proximity / Remote. Smoke deployment. (Smoke effects coming soon.)

Multiplayer Ready

  • Server-Authoritative — All damage calculated server-side.
  • Per-Player Limits — Configurable bomb cap per player (default: 5).
  • Ownership Enforcement — Only you can detonate your bombs.
  • Held-Bomb Recovery — Pick up an armed animal? Bomb pauses and resumes when you put it down.
  • Animals keep their bombs when put in and out of trailers.
  • Player Immunity — Explosions don't damage other players.
  • Auto-Sync — Joining mid-game? You'll see all active armed animals immediately.

Requirements:

  • Project Zomboid Build 42+
  • No other mod dependencies required

Early Access — Known Limitations

  • Flame effects — Molotov detonates but doesn't spawn fire yet.

  • Zombie sound attraction — Relies on client-side explosion SFX rather than server noise propagation.
  • Leeroy pathfinding — Animals panic and flee; they don't actively hunt zombies.
