Reactive Sound Events
A complete overhaul of the meta-event system. Sounds now react to the world, spawn physical scenes you can investigate, and tell a story through a new survivor radio station. The sounds adapt to time, weather, location, and your playstyle.
When you hear a distant sound, something actually happened there. Go find out what—if you dare.
Scene Types

  • Gunfight: Battle aftermaths with weapons and ammo.
  • Vehicle Crash: Wrecked cars with lootable trunks and gloveboxes.
  • Campsite: Campsites and evidence of other survivors.
  • And more...


On-Screen Sound Indicator A directional marker shows where the sound came from. It is customizable and also appears when you enter a scene radius.

  • Directional: The marker points toward the sound source.
  • Customizable: Adjust color, opacity, and duration in Mod Options.
  • Scene Radius: Appears when you get close to a scene.


Knox Relay Radio – 99.8 MHz Tune in to hear broadcasts from Marcus, Jenna, and Ray—three survivors with unique personalities and struggles.
Broadcast Schedule

  • 7:00 AM — Morning show with survival tips and skill lessons.
  • 1:00 PM — Midday broadcast with scene reports and story updates.
  • 7:00 PM — Evening broadcast with scene reports and story updates.


Radio Features

  • Tactical Intel: Hosts report coordinates of nearby scenes. Right-click your Radio, Walkie-Talkie, Ham Radio, or vehicle radio to Mark Intel on your map—with custom icons and animation feedback.
  • Learn & Survive: Listen carefully. The hosts share tips that can teach your character new skills.
  • Evolving Narrative: Follow their story across 90+ in-game days as they adapt and survive in the Exclusion Zone.


Character Reactions Your character reacts realistically to sound events:

  • Panic: Loud events raise panic levels—cowardly characters are affected more.
  • Wake Up: Nearby events can wake you—insomniacs beware.
  • Zombie Hearing: Zombies hear these sounds and may investigate.
  • Adaptation: Veteran survivors (high days survived) panic less than new characters.

Compatibility

  • Requires Build 42.13 or newer.
  • Multiplayer supported, but:
    • Scenes are singleplayer only for now.
    • Radio feature is currently buggy in multiplayer and will be fixed later.


Mod Compatibility

  • Weapon Mods: Automatically detects and adds modded ranged weapons—no setup needed.
  • Vehicle Mods: Automatically detects and adds modded vehicles—no setup needed.
