«Somewhat Traits [B42 Compatible]» mod for Project Zomboid adds 16 positive and 16 (17) negative traits, and expands 17 vanilla traits. Includes an optional «bonus to skill» traits module.

This is a multiplayer-focused mod, though it functions in single player. Designed for hardcore settings: high zombie population, tough zombies, sprinters, pinpoint accuracy.

Positive traits have subtle effects; stacking helps but does not drastically change gameplay. Negative traits activate strongly when conditions are met and may disappear when conditions no longer apply. Positive traits do not cancel active negative traits but reduce long-term character maintenance.

All traits have unique mechanics. Some vanilla traits can be lost or gained. Effects on endurance, fatigue, stress, boredom, and unhappiness are minor. Alters drunkenness: characters can drink light alcohol without sleepiness (up to two beers); high intoxication from whiskey or bourbon adds a small chance to trip while running, scaling with Endurance moodle. In B41, panic reduction over time is tied to character survival time instead of world age, and is decoupled from framerate. Adrenaline Junkie always panics on day one. Removes fear of blood restriction on first aid actions for other players. Sunday Driver can be lost in extreme situations; Speed Demon can be gained after a high-speed crash. Adds traits like Dextrous to double speed of timed actions; Handy also gains this for building and barricading. The 17th negative trait appears when CDC Rapid Response mods are present. Frog Companion trait can be extended with Somewhat Companions mod.

Does not add new professions or alter existing ones. Does not modify player interactions, communication, or experience gain except through the «bonus to skill» module. Compatible with Combat Traits and Paniqeur Trait. Can be added or removed from existing saves (traits are lost if removed). Initial development took approximately 80 hours.

The mod has three modules: SomewhatTraitsCore (core mechanics), SomewhatTraits (trait names/descriptions/costs), and SomewhatTraitsSkills (optional skill bonus module). Third-party versions of SomewhatTraits and SomewhatTraitsSkills are permitted if mod.info id is changed and SomewhatTraitsCore is retained.
